    24/7 Satellite Ready

Garmin inReach satellite devices work when cell towers and internet fail. No electricity dependency — satellite stays live.

What We Build In Every Neighborhood

    Satellite Communication

    Skills & Resource Registry

    Skills & Resource Registry

Garmin inReach devices operate on the Iridium satellite network — completely independent of cell towers and internet. Works when everything else fails.

Who is the nurse on your block? The electrician? Who has a generator, a chainsaw, or a Berkey filter? This registry means neighbors find exactly who they need within minutes.

    Water Safety Stations

    Skills & Resource Registry

    Water Safety Stations

Berkey filtration hubs serve multiple families. We teach neighbors how to make pool water, creek water, and rainwater completely safe to drink using Berkey filters, Sawyer Squeeze filters, SteriPen UV purifiers, and bleach treatment protocols.

    Block Check-In System

    Produce & Skills Exchange

    Water Safety Stations

A structured daily check-in protocol ensures every household is accounted for. Window signals — green cloth means safe, red cloth means help needed — let neighbors communicate without any technology at all.

    Medical Needs Registry

    Produce & Skills Exchange

    Produce & Skills Exchange

A private confidential registry held only by the node person ensures vulnerable residents — those on oxygen, insulin, or with mobility challenges — are checked on first during any emergency.

A neighborhood time bank and resource exchange connects those who grow food, make goods, or have skills with those who need them. One hour given equals one credit earned. No money changes hands.

    How It Works

    Step 1: Block Level

    Step 2: Neighborhood Level

    Step 2: Neighborhood Level

One designated node person per 10-20 homes walks their block, collects household status, and relays information using a Garmin inReach satellite device that works when all else fails.

    Step 2: Neighborhood Level

    Step 2: Neighborhood Level

    Step 2: Neighborhood Level

A hub coordinator connects all blocks, manages the full resilience directory, and communicates with adjacent neighborhoods — one person with enormous reach.

    Step 3: City Level

    Step 2: Neighborhood Level

    Step 3: City Level

Neighborhood hubs connect to each other and to county emergency management — creating a real-time picture of community needs when it matters most.

    Complementing CERT & BRACE

The Last Mile of Community Preparedness

CERT and BRACE train individuals to respond. The HAPPEN Network builds the neighborhood infrastructure those trained people plug into. Every CERT graduate is a natural HAPPEN Network node person. Every BRACE member strengthens the network. Faith communities, local businesses, and neighborhood organizations all have a role in building a resilient community. The HAPPEN Network is the connective tissue that holds it all together.

Neighbors should know each other before they need each other.
